Make your Mustang a drift machine with these Mods!

One of the most commonly asked questions in the Mustang drifting community is “What mods should I make to help the car drift better?” The first step, is to figure out what you plan on doing with the car. Is it a street car that you'll drift occasionally? Is it going to be a drift car you'll drive on the street occasionally? 

This is important to decide BEFORE you begin your build, so you don't end up buying parts you don't need, or making permanent changes to your vehicle that ruin it's street-ability. With all this in mind, here are the most recommended modifications to make if you want to drift your Mustang, divided into three different stages.

For a Mostly Street Car Build: (Stage 1)

1. Remove the ABS and airbag fuses
2. Remove the steering rack limiters and cut the inner tie rods
3. Set the rear tire pressure at 55 PSI
4. Run a quality/grippy steer tire on the front
5. Install Full Length Subframe Connectors

For a Mostly Track Car Build: (Stage 2)

1. Weld the Differential
2. Remove the ABS and airbag fuses
3. Remove the steering rack limiters and cut the inner tie rods
4. Set the rear tire pressure at 55 PSI
5. Run a quality/grippy steer tire on the front
6. Install Full Length Subframe Connectors
7. Remove interior and excess weight
8. Install a steering angle kit (arms, knuckles, bumpsteer kit, etc.) (Massive Designs Kit Sold Here at DriftAmerican)

For a Full Drift Car Build: (Stage 3)

1. Weld the Differential
2. Remove the ABS and airbag fuses
3. Remove the steering rack limiters and cut the inner tie rods
4. Install coilovers with heavy duty struts 
5. Run a quality/grippy steer tire on the front
6. Install Full Length Subframe Connectors
7. Install a steering angle kit (arms, knuckles, bumpsteer kit, etc.) (Massive Designs Kit Sold Here at DriftAmerican)
8. Remove interior and excess weight
9. Install a dual caliper setup for a handbrake (brackets sold here at DriftAmerican)
10. Install MM Extreme Duty Lower Control arms, new stock uppers, and a MM Panhard bar
